2 Years Cancer Free!
I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took the time to wish me well on my recovery since being diagnosed with bowel Cancer back in 2019. It has been a very difficult couple of years for us all dealing with covid-19/pandemic and lockdown etc, so it’s been overwhelming receiving texts, phone calls and messages from so many caring people.
I’ve been Cancer free for 2 years now. In November I had an operation to repair a Hernia (the weakened abdominal wall where my stoma bag WAS) which was a result of previous surgeries.
It looked like I was stealing a small rugby ball up my jersey but glad to say it is now flat…not 6pck-esk…but not too bad!
My Surgeon A J Clark also debrided a lot of scar tissue from the previous surgeries. The difference already is incredible and for the first time in 2 years I am pain free. I will be forever in AJ’s massive debt.
So…… going forward I must start looking after myself.
Massage: this is the bit that physically hurts me the most. I’ve had no choice but to cut this back to a minimum and by doing this I will now be able to join in on consultations and treatments with the other therapists. The most important part is that I can still perform MANIPULATIONS, which do NOT hurt me in the slightest. The staff offer a variety of massages and I concur when they say they are better than me anyway!!!
This change now allows me to see more patients (if not all) by spending more time in each room I will be able to manipulate if appropriate, catch up on treatment progress and join in with the session.
REHAB PROTOCOLS: I will be able to do more rehab programmes, tweaking of programmes and more Anti-Gravity Treadmill work.
In Short it was imperative that I do less with the strange outcome it allows me to do more! Which is what I wanted, I want to see all the patients I can.
Thank you to all the staff for their continuous support (we now have 3 new staff members in the team)
The biggest Thank you is to the patients for their understanding and continued support during these times.
